Recruiting for two new engineering apprenticeship positions at Hazlehead site

Plevin are increasing the number of apprentices in their work force and are currently in the process of recruiting for two new engineering positions. Two apprenticeship posts have been created as an electrical engineering apprentice and a mechanical engineering apprentice, both of which will be based at their Hazlehead site, near Sheffield.  

Plevin currently have three apprentices that gaining from both on the job and classroom based training at other sites. The new positions have been created to create opportunities for those that are not in education, employment or training NEETS into employment.

The two positions will be based at the company’s 50 acre Hazlehead site on the outskirts of Sheffield. The site processes waste wood into biomass fuel which is used by energy companies to create heat and power.

Working alongside Barnsley College, the three year apprenticeships will lead to either an intermediate technical certificate in electrical engineering or an intermediate technical certificate in mechanical engineering. There is also the option to study for functional skills in maths and English if required. Applicants will need 5 GCSEs of more including maths and science or previous work in engineering.

Plevin Apprentice Kyle Hindle is based at our Mossley site and is currently working towards his City and Guilds in HGV Mechanic & Repair and recommends the apprenticeship programme. 

Kyle said, “When I complete my apprenticeship next year, I would like to stay with Plevin and am very grateful to them for their support. I am really enjoying working here with some great people and am pleased then when I have finished my course I will have industry recognised qualifications and will be a fully qualified HGV mechanic.”
